An Evening with Andy Rouse
On the evening of 25th March around 200 people attended an ‘Evening with Andy Rouse’ event at Millfield Theatre. This is the second time that Edmonton Camera Club has jointly promoted such an event with the Theatre.
Andy is an outstanding wildlife photographer. He has won awards in the ‘Wildlife Photographer of Year Competition’ in four of the last five years. He is the author of bestselling books on the subject and his images are published worldwide.
Andy commenced his presentation with an animated showcase of his images and went on to describe, in both an informative and entertaining style, his work with a range of species. He described and illustrated his projects with Gorillas, Snow Geese, Tigers, Kingfishers and Snowy Owls. He went on to illustrate both the wildlife and landscapes of the Falkland Islands and South Georgia, including his work with the endangered Albatross. Some of Andy’s imagery benefitted from being taken as he leaned out of a Royal Naval helicopter at 9,000 feet over a glacier!
Andy Rouse describes himself as an animal lover first and a photographer second. He certainly is a great presenter, joking with the audience and mimicking the behaviours of the animals he metaphorically ‘shoots’. At Millfield both naturalists and photographers were entranced by his images in what was an outstanding evening of entertainment.
